Privacy Policy

StudySlate is operated by an independent individual based in China. This policy explains what information we handle when you generate a study pack, sign in, save a pack, or choose a subscription. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].
1. Information we handle
- Study material: text you paste, PDFs you upload, and page images rendered from scanned PDFs so their text can be read.
- Account information: your email address, account identifier, and sign-in session when you create or use an account.
- Saved results: a generated study pack only when you choose to save it. A pack can include summaries or excerpts of your source, but the original PDF or pasted text is not stored in your saved-pack library.
- Usage and security information: monthly generation counts, daily attempts, model token totals, OCR page counts, and pseudonymous identifiers derived from an account ID or network address. Server and hosting logs may contain your IP address, request time, and browser or device information.
- Billing status: if you subscribe, the Paddle customer and subscription identifiers, plan status, and billing-period information needed to provide the paid allowance. StudySlate does not receive or store full payment card details.
2. How study material is processed
StudySlate reads searchable PDF text on the server. For scanned pages, it creates temporary page images. We send the extracted text and, when needed, those images to DeepSeek to recognize text and generate the study guide, flashcards, and quiz you request. The StudySlate application does not keep your original PDF, pasted text, or rendered page images after processing the request. DeepSeek may process submitted content under its own service arrangements; do not upload confidential, sensitive, or third-party material unless you are allowed to send it to an AI provider.
Generated results remain in the current browser session unless you sign in and select “Save pack.” Refreshing or closing the page clears unsaved results from the StudySlate interface. Provider-side processing or retention is separate from what StudySlate stores.
3. Why we use information
We use information to deliver the study tool and saved-pack features, authenticate users, apply free and paid limits, process optional subscriptions, respond to requests, prevent misuse, maintain security, and diagnose failures. Where a legal basis is required, these activities rely on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating it safely, applicable legal obligations, or your consent where required.
4. Service providers and payment processing
DeepSeek processes submitted study content for AI generation. Supabase provides account authentication and stores saved packs, subscription status, and quota records. Resend delivers sign-in emails. Our hosting and security providers process technical requests and logs. If you subscribe, Paddle is the merchant of record and handles checkout, recurring payments, invoices, and refund requests under its Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. We do not sell your study material to advertisers.
StudySlate operates from China and its providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. In particular, the study material you submit is sent to DeepSeek for AI processing. Review DeepSeek’s privacy policy for its own handling of information. Other providers handle information under their applicable service and privacy terms, as well as our arrangements with them.
5. Cookies and advertising
When you sign in, StudySlate uses essential session cookies so your account works across pages. We may display ads served by Google AdSense once the site is approved for ads. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies and process information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and interactions with ads to deliver, measure, and protect advertising. This is separate from the study material you submit to the generator; we do not provide your uploaded PDF or pasted notes to Google for ad targeting.
For visitors in regions where consent is required, Google’s consent message lets you make advertising choices before eligible ads are served. You can learn more about how Google uses information for ads and manage Google ad personalization in My Ad Center. Your browser settings may also let you block cookies, though this can prevent account features from working. We do not currently use a separate third-party analytics service.
6. Storage and retention
Original study material and rendered PDF images are processed temporarily and are not saved in StudySlate’s database. Saved packs remain in your account until you delete them or delete the account. Account information remains while the account is active. Pseudonymous quota, usage, security, and technical records may be kept as needed to operate the service, prevent abuse, investigate problems, and meet legal obligations. Paddle and other providers keep their own records under their policies and legal duties.
7. Your choices and requests
You can use the generator without an account, avoid submitting material you do not want processed by the AI provider, and clear unsaved results by closing or refreshing the page. In your account, you can delete saved packs, download an export of your account profile and saved packs, and request account deletion. If you have an active subscription, cancel it through Paddle first so recurring billing does not continue. You can email [email protected] to ask about access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights available where you live.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the service or its providers change. We will post the current version here with a new effective date and give additional notice when required by law. For privacy questions, contact [email protected]. Our Terms of Use explain the rules for using StudySlate.
